“Construction Workers Registration Ordinance” (CWRO) has taken effect since 29 December 2005, any person must register as a construction worker before he/she carries out construction works on construction sites. The “Designated workers for designated skills” provision under the CWRO stipulates that, except specified circumstances, only registered skilled workers or semi-skilled workers of designated trade divisions are allowed to independently carry out construction works of related trade divisions on construction sites. This provision has come into implementation starting from April 2017.
Normally, validity of workers registration is 5 years and it is renewable.
