ᐅ Skills Competition

”Hong Kong Construction Skills Competition” (HKCSC) organised by Construction Industry Council (CIC) is a biennial industry’s best competition. The 1st Hong Kong Construction Industry Skills Competition was organised in 2020 with huge success, attracting numerous industry practitioners to participate and a variety of organisations as our supporting organisations and sponsors. 

CIC will organise "The 2nd Hong Kong Construction Skills Competition" at the Hong Kong Construction Industry Trade Testing Centre (HKCITTC) in April 2023 to extend this signature event.

Objectives:

  1. To uplift the skill level of industry practitioners through competition and recognise those with excellent skill level in their respective trades; and

  2. To elevate the skill level of young practitioners as construction elites through competition, also to encourage the industry to identify and groom new talents and attract new entrants to join the construction industry.

Date

23 April 2023, 30 April 2023, 7 May 2023 and 14 May 2023 (Sunday)

The competition date will be arranged by balloting and the competitors will have the competition in one of these days, except for specific trades.

Age Requirement

20 years old or below

(Born on or after 1 January  2002)

21 years old or above

(Born before after 1 January 2002)

Qualification Requirement

Possessing the Intermediate Trade Test Certificate or the Semi-skilled Worker (ITT) qualification issued by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) (or above qualification) of the corresponding trade;

OR

Having accomplished or currently under a training course or collaborative training scheme.

Possessing the Trade Test Certificate or the Skilled Worker qualification (TT) issued by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) of the corresponding trade.

*The requirement for competitors of Repair, Maintenance, Alteration and Addition (Building Construction) should be the practitioner of the relevant trade.

Awards

Top 3 winners:

Each winner will be awarded with HK$5,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate.

Outstanding participants, who fulfill the requirements, may be selected to participate in the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 as one of the Hong Kong representatives, as well as the WorldSkills Training Programme. 

The Champion:HK$20,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate

The 1st Runner-up:HK$10,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate

The 2nd Runner-up:HK$8,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate

The Merit prize:HK$1,000 cash prize and a certificate 

There is no maximum number of The Merit prize. It will be awarded to the participants who have reached the qualified level in the competition as an encouragement.

Judging Panel

To ensure the transparency and equitability of the competition, the assessment panel will be comprised of representatives nominated by the CIC, Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), trade associations, labour unions and/or other industry stakeholders.

 

ᐅ Trade Test Seminars

The highly anticipated 2nd Hong Kong Construction Skills Competition (HKCSC) will be held on 23 April 2023 for 4 consecutive Sundays, clustering around 300 elites from different trades to win the championship!

The 2nd HKCSC will be organised in the Hong Kong Construction Industry Trade Testing Centre (HKCITTC) together with the HKCITTC Open Day event, so as to push forward the development of the craftsmanship skills of construction practitioners. Exciting activities include competition visits, as well as various trade test seminars and workshop visits.Anyone interested is welcome to join!
