Construction Industry Council (CIC) has been providing construction training for various construction-related trades in Hong Kong for more than 30 years. CIC aware that the traditional classroom based safety training adopted for years should be updated to enhance its practicality and efficacy. The Committee on Construction safety (Com-CSY) decided to establish a Safety Experience Training Centre (SETC) with incorporate the concept of construction accident simulation experience to enhance safety awareness for the construction industry.
The newly established SETC is located at the HKIC Kwai Chung Campus with approximate 3,000 square feet in size and equipped with various facilities for simulating real work environment. There are eight different training zones established with the theme of common accident types from construction industry.
Zone A: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Zone B: Working at Height
Zone C: Lifting & Rigging Plant
Zone D: Fire Safety
Zone E: Chemical & Electrical Safety
Zone F: Good Housekeeping
Zone G: Machinery & Trapping Hazard
Zone H: Virtual Reality (VR) Cave
The establishment of SETC is a step forward from the traditional mode of training and its aims to reduce the number of the serious accidents through the provision of practical training with the aid of accident simulations in a safe environment.
